Overheard someone call Monopoly a 'strategy game' and had to walk away
I was at a coffee shop last Saturday and this guy seriously said Monopoly is all about strategic property trading, which made me realize how many people still don't see the difference between luck-heavy classics and actual modern board games - has anyone else had to stop themselves from jumping into a conversation about that?

Wait, isn't rolling dice and hoping for the best basically what half of "real" strategy games come down to anyway?

lol @jana_shah nailed it honestly. People get so caught up calling everything a "strategy game" these days. Like calm down, Monopoly has like three actual decisions you can make and the rest is just watching your cousin cry because he landed on your hotel again. Real strategy games make you think multiple moves ahead, this is just gambling with extra steps.

Used to be one of those people. Thought buying Boardwalk and hotels was a big brain move. Then I actually played games where your decisions actually matter. That changed everything. Monopoly is just rolling dice and hoping nobody lands on your stuff. Real strategy games punish bad choices every turn. Monopoly punishes you for not rolling a seven.
