That guy at Gen Con who called out my storage system

I was at Gen Con last year in Indy unloading my board games for a meetup and this older dude watches me pull out a stack of boxes from a plastic tote. He says "you're gonna bust those corners" and hands me a tattered Crown Royal bag to use instead for the smaller games. Anyone else had a random stranger fix a dumb habit on the spot?

Wait, you're actually mad about that? The dude saved your game boxes from getting wrecked. I've seen so many board games at thrift stores and flea markets with crushed corners from people shoving them into totes and bins like they're packing for a move. That Crown Royal bag trick is legit, older gamers have been using those for decades because they actually protect the boxes. I get that you might feel judged in the moment, but honestly he did you a solid. Maybe he could have been nicer about it but at least he cared enough to speak up instead of watching you slowly destroy your own collection.

And yet nobody asked if maybe she just doesn't drink Crown Royal, @wendy131.

Four times now I've seen collectors mention that Crown Royal bags are actually made from the same material as felt sleeves for records, so it's less about the brand and more about the fabric. @jade_jenkins, I think you're onto something about preference though, some people just don't like having a whiskey logo sitting on their shelf next to their Games Workshop minis. Honestly, the bag trick is solid but it's not like it's the only option out there, felt pouches from craft stores work just as well without the branding.
