Unpopular opinion: That guy at the board game cafe taught me more than any YouTube video

Was at The Game Table in Nashville last Saturday, and this random dude watched me struggle with Brass Birmingham for twenty minutes before he walked over and said, 'You're overthinking the coal.' He pointed out one move I kept missing, and suddenly everything clicked. Anyone else have a stranger just show up and fix your whole game?

I used to think YouTube videos were the only way to get better at games. You can pause and rewind them, so they seemed like the smarter option. But then a man at a game night sat down across from me while I was playing Race for the Galaxy and showed me a card combo I had completely overlooked. Something about having another person right there, pointing at the board and talking through it, made it stick in my head forever. Now I really appreciate how a simple nudge from a stranger can clear things up faster than any tutorial ever could.

Totally get that "sticking in my head forever" part. I was the same way. Thought I could learn everything from guides and replays. Then at a local game cafe, someone just tapped a card I kept ignoring and said "try it with this one." Broke my whole strategy open. Made me realize I was just going through the motions alone.
