Warning: I think the obsession with 'legacy' games is getting out of hand

My group spent 8 hours last Saturday on a campaign game, and it felt like a chore, not fun. Has anyone else felt pressured to keep up with these huge time commitments?

Feel that so hard, we had the exact same thing happen with our group. Eight hours is a marathon, not a game night, and it starts to feel like homework you have to do. We also switched to shorter sessions, just like violaramirez said, and it made all the difference. Breaking it into smaller pieces lets you actually enjoy the story instead of just rushing to finish. The pressure to get through it all in one go totally kills the fun.

Ugh, I totally get that. My friends were super into one of those big legacy games last year. Honestly, we just started playing it in shorter chunks, like one big scene or chapter per meet-up instead of trying to finish a whole campaign day. It made it way less of a drag. Tbh, treating it like a TV show we watch weekly saved it for us. We'd order pizza and just do an hour or two.

Yeah, right? We tried to power through a whole story arc in one go and everyone was just fried by the end... Now we just pick a clear stopping point, like finishing a puzzle or getting to a new town, and call it a night. It feels way more like hanging out and way less like a chore.
