Appreciation post: That new recycled steel we tried for patch jobs is holding up like a champ.

It's cool to cut down on scrap and still get a solid repair.

Saw a piece on recycled steel in body repair recently. They said modern recycling makes it just as strong for patches. Glad to hear it's working out in practice.

Wait, @wyatt_hernandez14, you're saying recycled steel is just as strong now? That's wild lol. I've seen patches made from recycled stuff crack after a few months, like on that old truck I worked on last year. The metal seemed brittle and didn't hold up to stress. How do they make it so it doesn't lose strength? If it's true, that's a game changer, but I'm still kinda skeptical.

So @wyatt_hernandez14, does recycled steel really match new stuff for safety? I once tried patching my car with what felt like recycled tin foil, and let's just say it didn't add much peace of mind. But if they're now processing scrap to keep the same strength, that means cheaper fixes without cutting corners. Good to know we can save some cash and not worry about the patch falling off.
