Heads up on those new polymer gaskets vs the old copper ones

We swapped to the polymer ones on a high-pressure steam line at the plant last week, and they failed after 48 hours under full load. The old copper ones we've always used held for years in the same spot. Anyone else run into this with the new materials they're pushing?

Honestly that's a real bummer to hear. Makes you wonder why they push the new stuff so hard when the old way worked fine for years. Tbh I've seen similar things with other "upgraded" parts just failing faster. Feels like they fix what wasn't broken.

Remember when they switched to plastic parts in hospital equipment. Saw a few fail under pressure and cause real issues. Makes you question new materials that cut corners.

Yikes, guess my plan to replace all my old copper plumbing with plastic was... not great.

Man, my neighbor went all in on that plastic stuff a few years back. Now he's got leaks at every fitting and the water tastes like a garden hose. Makes you wonder if the old ways were just built to last, you know?
