Hot take: Clean your slag off the shop floor before the welders show up
I was on a job at the chemical plant over by the river in Baton Rouge last month. The welders came in at 6 AM and I hadn't swept up my slag from the night before. One of the old timers slipped on a piece, nearly went down hard on the concrete. He didn't cuss me out but he gave me a look that said plenty. Now I always take 10 minutes at the end of my shift to sweep and scrape. Has anyone else had a close call like that during a rush job?

Is stepping on a little piece of metal really that big of a deal though?

Man, I feel that. I had a similar experience last spring when I slipped on a wet patch of grass and my foot slid right under a rusty old bolt sticking out of a board. That tiny thing went straight through my shoe and into my heel, took three weeks to heal properly. The worst part was the infection risk, I had to get a tetanus shot and everything. It's wild how something so small can mess you up so bad if you're unlucky. Hope you're okay now, that concrete fall sounds brutal.
