That 3/8-inch gap on the old boiler in Toledo last month had me stumped

The foreman just laughed and said to check the flange bolts for a hairline crack. Anyone else run into a weird leak that wasn't where it looked like it was coming from?

My buddy chased a phantom leak for days.

Phantom leaks are the worst, @wesleyb20. I spent a whole weekend convinced my kitchen faucet was haunted before I found a tiny crack in the supply line under the sink. It's amazing how something so small can cause so much trouble.

Honestly, a few days seems like a lot for a leak hunt. Unless there's a real flood, it's usually just a drip you can live with for a bit. Tbh, sometimes people make a huge deal out of a tiny problem that isn't even causing damage yet. I'd just keep an eye on the water bill and call someone if it got bad.
