Why does nobody talk about slag inclusions showing up on x-ray after a good weld?

Last month I laid down some 7018 that looked perfect, smooth and clean, but the x-ray showed inclusions buried under the surface, and it turns out my interpass temperature was too low at 200 degrees, so now I'm curious if anyone else checks that before every pass or just eyeballs it like I used to?

Funny how moisture in the flux can do that too, not just the heat, always check the rod can first.
