Wrote off tube rolling as a gimmick, then a guy in Gary showed me his leak log
I always figured hand rolling tubes was just as good as using a torque gun. At the local 374 hall in Hammond last month, an old timer pulled out a notebook with 40 years of leak numbers from his jobs. His rolled joints failed about 1 in 200, while the hand rolled ones on the same crew ran closer to 1 in 30. He let me run his gun on a mockup and the feel was way more even than I expected. Now I want to know if anyone here has tracked leak rates on their own tubes, because I want to build a log like his. What numbers are you all seeing out there?
