I switched from PVA to wheat paste for my bookcloth and it fixed a big problem

I was using PVA glue for my bookcloth for about a year, but it kept bubbling on me after it dried, especially on darker fabrics. I switched to wheat paste last month and the adhesion is smoother and the cloth lays way flat without any wrinkles. Has anyone else had better luck with one over the other for spine inlays?

Switched to wheat paste last year myself and never looked back-lays so much flatter on spines.

Three cans of beer and a YouTube tutorial later my first spine looked like a wrinkled potato. Wheat paste is definitely the way to go.

Wheat paste sounds like the secret sauce nobody tells you about until you've already ruined three yards of fabric and a whole weekend. PVA glue had me convinced my pressing board was haunted by invisible bubbles that only showed up after I thought I was done. At least with wheat paste my failures are predictable and usually involve me getting distracted by a cat video instead of a mysterious chemistry experiment. Seriously though, switching to it feels like going from a sketchy gas station burrito to a home cooked meal. Your spine inlays will thank you even if your patience doesn't.
