My handmade cover adhesive failed after a week...

I used a new glue for a custom cover, but it started peeling after a few days. What do you all use to make sure your bindings last?

Totally been there with glue just giving up. For years I swore by that instant tack stuff, wanted projects done fast. Then saw @the_lee talking about that slow, flexible glue and the long press time. Game changer. I was not patient enough before. Now I know the material needs to settle. That pressing for days lets it really grab on. A little sanding first helps too, like victor779 said. My last few covers feel solid, no more lifting corners.

Switched to a flexible bookbinding glue last year after my covers kept lifting. It stays a little tacky so the material can move without cracking. Pressed it under heavy books for two full days, and that one's still holding up fine.

Flexible glue is the real deal. That long press time makes all the difference.

Was it a PVA glue? That stuff never sticks to coated covers for me, you gotta rough up the surface first.
