Shoutout to the guy who warned me about cheap PVA glue ruining a project

I wasted $50 on a budget brand that made my book covers bubble up after 3 days, has anyone else had that happen with a specific glue?

That "bubbling after 3 days" part hit home hard. I had a similar thing with a cheap wood glue on a bookshelf project (wanted to save a few bucks), and the joints just gave up after a week. It's funny how the same rule applies to so many things in life, you know? Like buying cheap toilet paper or bargain bin charging cables - you think you're being smart with your money, but it always ends up costing more in the long run when it fails.

PVA glue's pH level varies wildly between cheap and premium brands. The budget stuff often has a higher acid content that reacts with certain papers and wood finishes over time, causing that delayed bubbling and bonding failure. I've seen it happen with book cloth too where the cheap glue actually eats through the dye in about two weeks. People don't realize glue is basically a chemical reaction, not just sticky water.

Oh man that "bargain bin charging cables" thing got me. I bought a pack of those cheap charging cables from a gas station once and they literally melted on me while I was charging my phone overnight. Fried the charging port too. Had to get a whole new phone. And the weird thing is the expensive glue I switched to for my journal projects has that same sort of quality feel where it just works right and lasts forever... like paying a little extra saves you all that headache down the road.

Totally feel you on that. Ngl, I've had almost the exact same thing happen with a cheap power bank from a discount store. It literally started smoking while I was charging my laptop on a road trip. Scared the heck out of me. It's wild how the same lesson applies to glue and cables and pretty much everything else. Honestly, you pay a little more once or you pay a whole lot more later. Sucks that we all learn this the hard way.
