Showerthought: That time my sewing frame literally split in half mid-stitch

I was working on a 400-page novel binding last Tuesday, putting in the final sections, and BAM - my wooden sewing frame just cracked right down the middle. The tension from the cords was too much for this old thing I got at a garage sale for $15. I spent the next hour trying to clamp it back together with wood glue and a c-clamp, but it was a total loss. Had to order a new metal frame from Hollander's for $85 that same night. Anyone else ever have a piece of equipment just give out on them at the worst possible time?

dropped like a rock" - yeah that's pretty much what my frame did too. @wood.eric I used to think wood frames were fine for binding but after that split I'm all in on metal now. Cheap lesson I guess.

@wyatt_mitchell26 So you had to learn the hard way too? What brand was it?

Man that sucks. Had almost the same thing happen with my old floor jack last month, right when I had a transmission half hanging out of a minivan - the seal blew and it dropped like a rock.
