TIL the hard way that wheat paste takes about 45 minutes longer to dry than I thought on a humid day

Had a stack of book cloth pieces I glued up at 8 PM thinking they'd be dry by bedtime, but at midnight they were still tacky and I ended up ruining two covers because I got impatient and tried working with them anyway - has anyone found a good trick for speeding up drying time in summer weather?

Oh come ON. Hair dryer on low works great for sticky wheat paste patches.

72% humidity here and a desk fan aimed at them cut my wait time in half.

I've noticed the "aim a fan at them" trick works way better if you also position the fan so it's pulling air from a drier room instead of just recirculating the humid air in the same space. From what I've seen, even a small dehumidifier in the corner does more for curing than any airflow alone ever will, especially above that 65% mark. Your mileage may vary obviously, but it's worth a shot if you're still dealing with tacky spots after a few days.
