I finally stopped babying my fiddle leaf fig and moved it outside

For two years I kept my fiddle leaf fig inside near a south window in Portland, spraying leaves, checking soil moisture like a maniac. Last spring I said forget it and put it on my covered porch where it gets morning sun and afternoon shade. It grew 3 feet in 4 months and the leaves are dark green and huge now. Has anyone else had a plant perk up after you stopped fussing over it?

"Plants are weird man" but maybe you're just overthinking it.

Wait does anyone else's plants throw a fit after you finally decide to stop helicopter parenting them? I killed three snake plants in a row by overwatering them because I was so scared of them dying. Then I went on vacation for two weeks and forgot to ask my roommate to water them and they came back with new growth. Now I just ignore them until they look sad then dump water on them and they love it. My pothos is the same way, it was all droopy and yellow until I moved it to a dark corner and basically abused it. Plants are weird man, they seem to thrive on neglect sometimes.

Not my experience, more sun always seems to help my plants actually.
