Just learned the hard way about peat vs coir for my seedlings
Used peat moss for years but switched to coconut coir this season after a local nursery owner in Denver warned me about the sustainability issues, and my tomato starts are already way healthier with better root structure. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a difference in their propagation success rates?

Three bucks a brick at the hardware store off Colfax, that coir lasts forever. I soaked one brick in a five gallon bucket and it turned into enough soil to fill my whole raised bed. Hey @kimr74, that pepper thing tracks because coir holds moisture way more even than peat. I had two trays of basil side by side last spring, peat was dry as dust by noon and coir stayed damp for three days. Plus no dust clouds when you're filling trays.
