My basil decided to grow straight through a crack in the patio

I had a basil plant in a clay pot that developed a tiny crack at the bottom. Over a week, a single stem pushed through the crack and rooted itself in the pavement below. I had to carefully cut the pavement around it to transplant the stubborn thing. Now it's in a bigger pot, and I check for cracks every watering.

You said you check for cracks every watering now. Is that just worry about it escaping again, or did that little break really hurt the plant?

That little break can kill a plant fast, so yeah, I check every time now.

Honestly, that basil's will to live is wild, and ninaowens, we're all a bit paranoid now.
