My entire greenhouse collection got hit by a surprise frost in early April, and I lost about 15 different seedlings I'd been nursing since January.

Has anyone else in a Zone 6 area had luck with a specific, affordable brand of frost cloth they'd recommend for next season?

Oh man, that's brutal. My buddy in Ohio swears by the cheap frost blankets from the big box store, the kind that come in a roll. He just layers it over his cold frames when the forecast looks sketchy.

That early April frost is a killer. I use the same cheap roll blankets from the hardware store, but the trick is to put them on before sunset to trap the day's heat. One layer is never enough, I always double it up.

Is it really that serious though? I mean, I live in a zone that gets surprise frosts every single spring, and I've never lost a whole greenhouse collection at once. Are you sure the issue is the frost cloth and not maybe your setup or how close the greenhouse is to a cold corner? I've used old bedsheets before in a pinch and they worked fine. Seems like the real trick is just paying close attention to the weather forecast and being ready to act, not dropping money on special blankets.

My seedlings have a better survival rate than my houseplants, honestly.
