My new Monstera albo cutting started growing a pure white leaf and now I'm worried
Honestly, I got this cutting from a plant swap in Portland last month and it had two nice green and white leaves. The new growth came in a few days ago and it's completely white, no green at all. I know it needs chlorophyll to live, so I'm scared this leaf is going to die and hurt the whole plant. Has anyone else had a variegated plant push out a full white leaf and still survive?

Actually, I've seen people try to gently shade the plant to slow down the white growth and encourage the next leaf to have some green. It's a stress move from the plant, but you can sometimes steer it back. Just don't cut the white leaf off yet, it's still helping the plant in its own way.

But won't that just stress the plant more?

That idea about steering it back with shade reminds me of my friend's monstera. She had a leaf go almost fully white like wren638 was worried about. She moved it about three feet back from a south window, just into bright but indirect light. The next leaf that came in had these perfect little green patches mixed in. She said it felt like the plant just needed a break from all that direct sun pressure.
