PSA: I lost about $80 on those 'rare' cactus seeds from an online seller that never sprouted

Looking back, I should've checked the seller's reviews more closely instead of just getting excited about the listing photos... anyone know a legit source for astrophytum seeds?

Check the seller's history for germination reports, not just star ratings. I got burned the same way and now I only buy from sellers who post actual photos of their mother plants and seed pods. For astrophytum specifically, try looking at dedicated cactus forums where growers trade seeds they collected themselves. That method has given me way better results than any random online shop.

Honestly, that's just the risk with seeds. Sometimes they don't germinate no matter who sells them. You can't always blame the seller for that.

But what if the seller's seeds are just old?
