That garden club lecture on native bees threw me off
The speaker at the Maplewood library said our pollinator gardens are too neat. Said we need bare dirt patches and dead stems. I spent 3 seasons ripping out weeds for looks. Has anyone else changed their yard after a talk like this?

So I ripped out my entire butterfly bush after that speaker at our garden club meeting said it was basically a bee bar with no nectar. Now I'm staring at a dirt patch that looks like my yard gave up on life, and the bees still haven't shown up. Guess I should've kept the pretty weeds and just let the neighbors whisper about my messy landscaping.
