That one guy at the orchid show who kept sniffing my dendrobium

At the spring expo in Portland, a stranger leaned over my shoulder and inhaled my orchid like it was expensive perfume, then told me it smelled like "grandma's attic but in a good way". Has anyone else had a stranger get weirdly intimate with their plants, or was this guy just a special kind of botanical fan?
