Tried repotting my snake plant last Tuesday and it basically exploded
I lifted the plastic nursery pot and the whole root ball just burst open like a popcorn kernel, sending dirt all over my kitchen floor. Has anyone else had a houseplant completely fall apart on them during a simple repot?

Oh man, that exact thing happened to me last spring with a pothos I’d ignored for like three years. I pulled it out of the pot and the whole thing just crumbled into a pile of roots and soil, I was standing there holding a handful of nothing (and also dirt in my hair somehow). It’s so frustrating when you’re trying to be gentle and the plant just decides to explode on you. Snake plants are especially dramatic about it with those thick, tight root balls they make. I ended up just scooping everything back into a bigger pot with fresh soil and hoping for the best, honestly it bounced back fine after a few weeks. So don’t feel bad, you’re not alone in the plant explosion club.

Dirt in your hair somehow" is way too relatable, I still find soil in random places days after repotting. That's wild your snake plant bounced back though, I would've been convinced it was a goner.
