Unpopular opinion: Monstera leaves don’t actually need misting

I see so many people in here spraying their Monsteras daily and I used to do it too until I read a study from the University of Florida that said it barely raises humidity. It actually can cause leaf rot if water sits in the stem joints for too long. Has anyone else stopped misting after finding this out?

Wait I heard the same thing from a plant science podcast.

Same with my fern, I was misting it like crazy til I noticed the new leaves were turning black. Now I just leave a humidifier across the room and everything's fine.

Yeah I read somewhere that misting can actually trap moisture on the leaves and cause rot or fungal issues if it doesn't dry quick enough. I think it's because the water sits there instead of actually raising the humidity around the plant. The humidifier thing makes way more sense for steady moisture without the wet leaves.
