Visited the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix last Sunday and half the succulents had tags with the wrong names
I drove 2 hours to see their new agave collection and like 8 out of 20 plants I checked had labels that didn't match what was growing. One was labeled a parry's agave but it was clearly a different species with softer spines. For a place that charges $25 admission you'd think they could get a volunteer with a field guide to double check. Has anyone else run into mislabeling at a botanical garden or is this just a Phoenix problem?

Big botanical gardens usually take their labeling seriously cause they do research and education stuff. Sounds like the Desert Botanical Garden dropped the ball hard especially for $25 a head. A buddy of mine visited a garden in San Diego and said half their cactus labels were just wrong too, so it might be a common issue with entry level staff or volunteers.

Yeah @seth_singh20, it's frustrating when you pay top dollar and get sloppy work. It's like everything these days has this "close enough" attitude, from restaurant menus to product labels at the store. You'd think a place built on education would have a little more pride in getting the basics right.

Total agree @piper779, I mean even my own plant tags at home are probably wrong half the time and I'm the one who planted them. Guess I shouldn't judge the botanical garden staff too hard when I can't get my own houseplants right.
