Honestly, the coffee shop in Austin had the worst pour over I've ever had.

I was visiting a buddy last month and he swore by this place on South Congress. I paid $7 for a single cup and it tasted like burned rubber. The barista looked at me weird when I asked for a different bean. Anyone else run into overrated coffee spots that everyone hypes up?

That South Congress place ripped me off too.

Did that place have a weird neon sign of a goat or something, I had the same burnt rubber taste there last spring.

Jammed a pipe cleaner soaked in vinegar down the straw and let it sit for an hour, then ran hot water through it for a solid five minutes. That nasty burnt rubber taste finally went away after that. Had to do it twice actually because the first time still left a little hint of it. Sometimes those reusable straws just trap old coffee oils or something in the crevices, you know? Worth a shot before you toss the cup.
