I told my boss no to a promotion 8 months ago and my paycheck is up $340 a month
Honestly everyone acts like turning down a promotion is career suicide but that was not my story at all. I got offered a supervisor spot at my warehouse job in Fresno back in January and I said no because the extra 60 cents an hour was not worth the 4 extra hours of meetings. My manager looked at me like I was nuts. But here is the thing, saying no freed me up to pick up weekend shifts on a different crew that pays a shift diff, and I also stopped getting pulled into every fire drill. Ngl my take is that most promotions are just more stress with a title. Has anyone else turned down a step up and actually come out ahead, or did it bite you later?
