Rant: rent vs owning a CNC, renting won me over after 14 months

I ran a small cabinet shop in Tacoma and bought a used CNC for $9k. Setup costs, tooling, and maintenance ate up 6 weekends. Then a rush job needed a 5-axis cut my machine could not do. Renting a shop's CNC for that job took 2 hours and cost $300. Selling my machine and renting hourly ever since has been smoother. Anyone else ditch a big purchase for rental access and feel dumb for not doing it sooner?

Blew a compressor motor once and swore off big tools forever.

Wait, did you actually run the numbers on your lost weekends before you sold it?
