Debate: Should you butter 10 bricks ahead or only 2 at a time?
I learned the hard way that buttering too far ahead lets the mortar dry out before you set the brick. An old pro at a site in Denver told me to only butter 2-3 bricks ahead max, and my wall speed actually improved because I stopped wasting time chipping off crust. But my partner insists prepping a whole row saves steps when you're working fast. What's your cutoff for how many bricks you butter ahead on a big job?

Isn't that the truth, I swear I wasted half a day scraping crust before I learned my lesson too.
