Just read a report that says over 40% of bricklayer injuries involve the knees or back

I found this in a safety bulletin from the trade association last week. I mean, I knew the work was tough on the body, but seeing that number really hit me. It made me check my own kneepads, which I admit I don't always wear. The report said most of those injuries happen from repetitive lifting and kneeling on hard surfaces without protection. Maybe it's just me, but I think we all get a bit lazy with gear sometimes. What's the best kneepad you guys have found that actually stays comfortable all day?

Ouch, that stat is a real wake-up call. I trashed my knees for years before I found pads that don't feel like torture devices. The gel-filled ones with a hard cap are the only kind I can stand for a full shift. They cost more but my back and knees are way less stiff at the end of the day. That report is right, skipping protection is just borrowing pain from the future.

Getting a bit lazy with gear" is my middle name, right after "regretting it the next morning.

Tell me about it. My sleeping bag is still in its stuff sack from last weekend, and I already know I'll be mad at myself on Friday.
