Rant: That new brick supplier in Tacoma finally won me over

I spent two years refusing to buy from Northwest Brick Supply because I figured all their stuff was overpriced fancy junk. Then I had to rush a job near the Port of Tacoma last month and the usual spot was out of the old red blend I needed. Drove over there out of desperation and found they actually stock a local reclaimed line for 15% less than my regular guy. The color match was dead on and the bricks had zero chips in the whole pallet. Has anyone else had their mind changed by a supplier they swore they'd never use?

Funny how being wrong usually costs me more than just admitting it sooner.

Your story about the lumber yard reminded me of this pizza place I swore off back in like 2015... they burned my pepperoni pizza and then the manager argued with me about it. I told everyone I knew to never go there. Then last winter my usual pizza spot was closed on a Monday and I was starving so I caved and went back. Not only did they have a whole new crew, the guy at the counter comped my order when I mentioned the old problem and the pizza was actually amazing. I felt kind of dumb for holding a grudge for almost a decade over one burnt pizza...

...and let me tell you, I had basically the same thing happen with a lumber yard over in Renton. I swore for years I'd never go back after they shorted me on a delivery back in 2017. But yeah, @mark_carr7, you're right about the cost of being stubborn. Last spring I needed some cedar for a fence repair and my regular place was out for two weeks. Finally caved and went back to that Renton yard. They had exactly what I needed, the guy at the counter actually remembered me and apologized for the old mix-up, and the wood was cleaner than anything I'd gotten in years. Sometimes you just gotta eat your pride and see if people changed.
