Stretcher bond vs stack bond, I finally picked a side

Was bidding a patio job down in Austin last month and the owner wanted stack bond because it looks cleaner. I've always done stretcher bond, so I had to decide on the spot. Went with stack for the front face and honestly the lines look sharp, but I noticed two hairline cracks near the corner after the first hard rain. Anyone else had luck mixing bonds on one project, or am I asking for trouble long term?

Nah, mixing bonds is just asking for trouble. Stick to one or rip it out.
