That corner I messed up near the chimney took me 4 hours to fix

Was working on a house over in Maplewood last week, a little ranch from the 50s. Tried to rush a tricky corner where the chimney meets the gable and my bond was all off. Ended up pulling out about 30 bricks and re-laying them, took way longer than I thought it would. Has anyone else had their biggest time suck come from a tiny detail like that?

My corner is still packed from 1996, so I'll just nod along.

Yeah @daniel140 I get what you mean but honestly I've noticed this same kind of thing pops up everywhere. Like in my neighborhood the HOA has this rule about how many days you can leave your garbage cans out and people go nuts over it. It's the same idea where one small rule can feel totally random and controlling until you realize it's probably there because someone made a huge mess at some point. Your mileage may vary but I've found most of these little corner rules come from some specific disaster nobody talks about anymore.
