Can we talk about how people waste money on fresh herbs?
I saw my neighbor buy a $4 pack of fresh basil for one pasta dish and then throw most of it away. I've been growing a small pot of basil on my windowsill for months from a $2 seed packet. It's way cheaper and you just snip what you need. What other fresh ingredients do you think people buy when they could grow or swap them cheaply?

Actually lettuce needs a bit of soil to regrow properly, just water makes it get real bitter. The green onion trick is perfect though.

Totally agree with you on the herbs. Green onions are the biggest one for me. People buy a whole bunch, use two, and the rest goes slimy in the fridge. Just stick the white ends in a glass of water on the counter and they grow back forever. It's so easy it feels like cheating. A lot of lettuce will regrow from the core too if you put it in water. Saves so many trips to the store and cuts down on plastic waste.

Yeah the "feels like cheating" part is what gets me. So many things in life have a simple fix if you just know the trick.
