Canned tuna or dried beans, which stretch a dollar further?

I started doing a strict $40/week grocery challenge in Nashville and found that a 99 cent can of tuna gives me 2 meals but a 1 dollar bag of dried beans gives me 5... the prep time difference is huge though. Is the extra simmering worth it for you, or do you lean on convenience even when the math points the other way?

Man, I used to be all about the tuna because it felt like a real meal with zero effort. But once I actually tracked my meals for a week, the bean math kind of slapped me in the face. I was spending like $7 a week on tuna when $2 in beans covered the same lunches. The simmering is a pain, but I started making a big pot on Sunday and it's honestly not that bad. Plus beans don't have that weird metallic aftertaste that canned tuna sometimes leaves. I'll still grab a can of tuna when I'm desperate, but beans are the everyday choice now.
