I finally figured out why my rice always came out mushy

Saw a post online about rinsing rice until the water runs clear. I always skipped that step because who has time right? Tried it last Sunday with a $5 bag of jasmine rice from Aldi. Came out perfect for the first time in 3 years. Anyone else have a simple trick they ignored for way too long?

Wait isn't rinsing it just common sense though? I finally caved and tried it too. Game changer.

My husband thought I was crazy the first time I tried it. Now he does it every time he makes rice too. @william_garcia you're not alone, idk why it took me so long to finally do it. I used to just dump it straight in the pot like some kind of animal. The texture is so much better now, fluffy but not gummy.

Yeah but you gotta let it sit covered for 10 minutes after cooking too.
