My dad told me to stop wasting money on pre-cut veggies and I laughed... until I did the math

He saw me dump a $4 bag of pre-chopped onions into a pan and just shook his head. So I finally sat down and tracked it for two weeks. A whole onion costs around 60 cents, and I can chop three of them in like 5 minutes. That bag price difference adds up fast when you cook dinner 5 nights a week. Anyone else have family members who call you out on stuff like this?

That 60 cent per onion math is actually off because store bought whole onions usually run closer to 80 cents to a buck depending on where you shop, lol. Still a solid point though, pre-cut stuff is a total markup trap.

Saw a news segment saying pre-cut onions can cost three times more than whole ones.
