Hold on, sixty bucks for pasta sauce ingredients? I mean, I like good food too but that's a whole grocery run for some families.

Mason, you're not wrong at all. Parent would lose their mind if they saw my credit card statement for a single jar of imported San Marzano tomatoes and real Parmigiano-Reggiano (the stuff with the rind still on it). Best trick I've learned is to buy the expensive olive oil in bulk at Costco and store it in a dark cabinet, cuts the cost of any sauce by like 40% over time. One batch of that fancy sauce can stretch into three meals if you freeze half of it too.

Yeah, the whole "stretch it into three meals" part is key. I do the same thing with my good chili verde. You drop sixty bucks on tomatillos and pork shoulder but portion it out right and you're eating like a king for a week. The trick is to freeze it in flat quart bags, takes up no room and thaws fast. And yeah, Costco olive oil is a lifesaver. I keep a big jug in the pantry and refill a smaller bottle for daily use. Keeps the good stuff from going bad before you can use it all.
