My mother in law told me to freeze my leftover tomato paste and she was right

I used to throw away half a can of tomato paste every time I made chili or spaghetti sauce. My mother in law saw me do it last February and said just scoop it out in tablespoon portions onto wax paper and freeze them. I thought she was being overly frugal but I gave it a shot. Now I pop one out of a baggie anytime I need a little paste for a recipe. It saves me maybe 3 or 4 dollars a month but more importantly I am not wasting food anymore. Has anyone else found a good way to store partial cans of things like coconut milk or chipotle peppers?

Wait, you were throwing away half a can of tomato paste completely?? That hurts my soul a little, I never even thought about freezing it before.

@amy_anderson You do you but I actually don't mind tossing half a can of tomato paste. It's like a dollar and I'd rather just buy a fresh can when I need it again instead of dealing with frozen chunks that get all weird and watery. Plus my freezer is ALREADY overstuffed with frozen veggies and bread ends, no room for little tomato paste cubes. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
