Overheard a guy at the grocery store say frozen veggies are a waste of money...
He was in the frozen aisle telling his friend that fresh is always better and frozen is just cheap filler. I buy a 16 oz bag of frozen mixed veggies for 99 cents at my local Aldi... that's my base for three or four meals a week. The cost of fresh bell peppers and broccoli to get the same amount would be over five dollars here. I think a lot of people forget that 'budget friendly' isn't just about the price tag, it's about reducing waste... frozen stuff lasts for months. Anyone else have a go-to frozen staple that saves them a ton?

Tell that guy to check his math and his fridge. My freezer's full of frozen spinach and peas that never go bad, while his fresh kale is probably turning to soup in the crisper drawer. Some people just like paying more to throw food away.

Oh, I see what you mean about frozen veggies lasting longer. But you know, fresh kale can actually keep pretty well if you store it right. I wrap mine in a dry paper towel inside a bag, and it stays crisp for over a week. The real trick is just using what you buy before it goes off, frozen or fresh.

Exactly, the paper towel trick is key for a lot of leafy stuff. But it's still a gamble with fresh. You can do everything right and still get a slimy bag because the store had it sitting out too long. Frozen is just a guaranteed backup for when life gets busy and that fresh stuff you had plans for goes south. It cuts down on the guilt of wasting food and money.
