PSA: My mom's $2 lentil trick made me ditch ground beef every week
I was talking to my mom on the phone last week about how my grocery bill keeps climbing. She goes 'you know you can stretch any meat with red lentils right?' I thought she was crazy but she showed me her recipe. She does half ground beef and half cooked lentils in tacos and it actually tastes the same. I tried it with a 1 pound package of beef and it fed me for 3 extra meals. Has anyone else tried mixing lentils into their ground meat recipes?

Read somewhere lentils are packed with protein too, so win win.

Are lentils really that high in protein though? I've always thought they're decent but not anywhere near meat or eggs. A cup of cooked lentils has about 18 grams last I checked. It's solid for a plant food, but you'd still need to pair it with rice or something to get a complete protein.
