Showerthought: My aunt's 'special occasion' cooking is ruining our regular dinners.
She acts like every meal needs a fancy cut of meat or imported cheese. We eat just fine with chicken thighs and block cheddar, and it keeps the week affordable.

Nah, your aunt is kinda onto something though. Settling for the basic stuff every single night makes life boring. A good aged gouda totally changes a grilled cheese, and a nice steak once in a while is a legit experience. If you only ever eat for function, you miss the point of food being something to actually enjoy. She's trying to make meals memorable, not just fuel.

Who says every dinner needs to be an event? Save the fancy cuts for when it actually matters. Regular meals keep you sane and your wallet happy.
