Swapped rice for lentils in my chili and saved $5 a week
I used to always throw rice into my chili to bulk it up for cheap. But last month I tried brown lentils instead and it's so much better. A bag of lentils costs me like $2 and lasts twice as long as rice for the same volume. Plus they add way more protein and fiber so I'm fuller longer. Anyone else found a sneaky swap that makes your meals stretch further?

Honestly it's wild how once you start looking for those swaps you notice them everywhere. Like my mom always used to add shredded zucchini to meatloaf and I thought she was just being weird but now I realize she was stretching the ground beef without anyone really noticing. It's like the whole idea of "food hacking" has become this quiet little cheat code people use without bragging about it. I feel like a lot of the expensive stuff we buy is just habit and once you swap one cheap thing in it makes you question all the other stuff you're paying too much for. Lentils in chili is a solid move though, I might have to try that myself.
