Switched from buying bagged salad to whole heads of lettuce last month

I was spending about $4 a bag on pre-washed salad that went bad in 3 days, but a $1.50 head of romaine lasts me a full week and I just rinse it myself. Has anyone else found a similar swap that cut their grocery bill in half?

Bagged spinach does the same thing, I just buy whole spinach now and it saves me like $3 a week.

Well @mason_lopez, next time my romaine goes limp I'll just start calling it pre-wilted and charging double. Honestly though, next you'll tell me I can save money by peeling my own carrots instead of buying the baby ones in bags.

My bagged salad was costing me like $5.50 for that "premium spring mix" that turned to slime in 48 hours. Now I buy a $1 head of iceberg and it lasts through two weeks of lazy dinners. My chopping skills are questionable but my wallet is happy. I figure I'm basically a professional produce butcher now. Next up I'll be grinding my own wheat for bread.
