Switched from buying pre-cut veggies to whole ones 3 months ago and it's wild how much less I spend

I used to throw $8 on a bag of pre-cut broccoli at Safeway, but now I buy a whole head for $1.50 and chop it myself in 5 minutes. Anyone else notice how much of a markup we pay for having someone else cut our food?

Actually it's not quite the difference people think it is, I mean the numbers are a lot closer once you factor in the real-world stuff. The official specs say one thing but if you compare actual transfer speeds in a normal home setup (with all the usual interference and cable lengths), the gap shrinks to like 10-15% in most cases. I remember seeing a test where someone with a high-end setup only got about 20% more throughput, not the massive jump the marketing suggests. Plus those fancy cables degrade faster if you bend them even a little, so that's another thing nobody talks about.

Gotta disagree slightly on the bendy cable thing, I think that's more of a budget cable problem than a spec issue. The higher end cables with proper shielding and thicker jacket actually hold up way better to daily abuse than the cheap ones in my experience. Also I'm not sure about that 10-15% number from normal home setups, most real world tests I've seen still show a solid 30-40% improvement with the good gear even with standard house wiring and interference. The marketing definitely oversells the gap though, I'll give you that, nobody's getting double the speed unless they're running lab conditions. But those fancy cables do matter if you actually push data hard, like copying large files or gaming, the difference shows up in stability not just raw speed.
