That cooking show comment about canned beans made me stop and think
Heard some chef on TV say canned beans are a 'cheat' and I laughed remembering my grandma feeding six kids through the 80s off a 39 cent can, so I swapped my dried bean soak for a can this week and dinner took 20 minutes flat, anyone else ditch the fancy route after hearing an expert trash what actually worked for you?

Laughing along with you because that 39 cent can fed a lot of hungry kids back in the day, and nobody called it cheating then. I grew up on canned everything and we turned out just fine. Nice to hear you found a way to make dinner easy without feeling bad about it. That chef probably never had to get food on the table after a long shift with nobody to help. Good for you for sticking with what works, honestly.
