Threw away $45 on those fancy meal prep containers last month
I bought a set of those glass meal prep containers with the snap lids from Target thinking they'd be perfect for my budget meals. Turns out the lids cracked after two uses in the microwave and the glass shattered when I dropped one. Now I'm back to using my old plastic ones from the dollar store that have lasted me three years. Has anyone else had bad luck with those expensive containers?

Are you really comparing cheap plastic that probably leaches chemicals into your food to quality glass containers? My set from a home goods store has lasted over a year with daily use and no cracks. Sometimes you get what you pay for in terms of materials, not just the brand name.

You mentioned "materials not just brand name" and that really hits it. I've had cheap plastic containers that got all cloudy and weird after a few microwaves, and yeah, it kinda freaks me out about what might be seeping into my leftovers. Glass does feel different, it stays clear and doesn't get those weird scratches that trap old food smells. But I've also broken a couple glass ones by dropping them, so it's not like either option is perfect for everyone. For me, the peace of mind with glass is worth the extra care, but your experience might be totally different if you're not clumsy like me.

And honestly I feel like that's the thing with SO many products these days, not just food containers. You can buy a cheap version of something three times before you finally break down and get the decent one that actually works. It's like we're all just paying the "learning by breaking stuff" tax over and over again haha.
