Unpopular opinion: My cheap lentil soup is better than any restaurant's
Made a huge pot last night for about $8 total, using carrots and celery from the discount rack. It's so simple, but the trick is to add a splash of vinegar at the end. What's your one cheap meal that you think beats the fancy version?

You made a whole pot for eight dollars? I just paid nearly that much for a single bowl at a deli last week. The vinegar trick is a game changer, though. My cheap winner is homemade pizza on store bought dough. It costs less than a frozen one and tastes ten times better.

Saw my buddy try the store dough once and it was a total brick. He forgot it on the counter for like three hours and it blew up like a balloon. Ended up with this weirdly thick crust that was somehow both gummy and burnt. He still ate it but man, it was a sad sight.

Okay but the store bought dough is where you lose me. That stuff is crazy overpriced for what it is. It's literally just flour, water, yeast, and salt. Mixing it yourself takes maybe ten minutes of actual work for a fraction of the cost. The taste difference is huge too, way more than just being better than frozen. Once you get a feel for it, you'll never go back to the pre-made bags.
