Went to that new discount grocery store on 3rd Street and I don't get the hype
Everyone keeps saying how amazing Budget Mart is for saving money on food. I went there last Saturday and honestly I was pretty let down. The produce section was tiny with maybe 15 different items total, and the bell peppers were already getting soft. Sure the canned goods were cheap, but the store brand pasta was $0.50 more than what I get at Aldi. The meat department had like two types of chicken and nothing else fresh. Am I missing something or did anyone else find this place overrated?

Did I accidentally walk into the sad discount store for my own fridge contents? lol

Yeah the bell peppers being soft already is a red flag. Not worth the trip just for cheap canned goods.

Soft bell peppers aren't the only thing, though. I've noticed the dented cans can sometimes have a small leak or the seal is broken. That's a food safety issue, not just a cosmetic one. And the name brand stuff they carry is usually the clearance items from other stores, so the expiration dates are often close. You're better off waiting for a sale at a regular grocery store and using a coupon. The gas money and time just aren't worth it for mostly bruised produce and questionable canned goods.
